BSAC Diver Training programme is designed to build confidence and self-reliance, whilst keeping safety uppermost. Diving skills are taught progressively so that each new experience is built upon step by step.

The current diver training syllabus was introduced in December 2006, an update to the syllabus of October 2002. The DTP2007 integrates the use of Nitrox 32 and Nitrox 36 into the Ocean and Sports Diver grades. The DTP2007 is supported by the instructor resources CD-ROM that includes Instructor Notes, Classroom Visual Aids and Theory Assessment documentation. Student Workbooks and Instructor Prompt Cards support the delivery of the syllabus.

The BSAC First Class Diver award is the highest diving qualification awarded by the British Sub Aqua Club and marks the achievement of the highest standard of diving skill and knowledge. The Exam is conducted at a national level and requires successful completion of separate modules that can be taken in any order.

The Diver Training Programme is delivered by trained BSAC Instructors. BSAC runs over 170 Instructor Training Scheme events each year, providing training and assessment at all levels for both amateur and professional instructors. Our standards are internationally recognised and, as the UK Governing Body, are endorsed by the Sports Council and the Health and Safety Executive.
