Diving Incidents
The BSAC have monitored and reported on Diving Incidents since 1964, in the interest of promoting diving safety. The report analyses the background to the incidents and allows the BSAC, individual divers and others to address safety and training issues highlighted by incident analysis.

The role of NDC Incidents Advisor includes gathering, collating and reporting on diving incidents and advising on emerging trends in diving safety, liaising with rescue services, maintaining ‘Safe Diving’ and other safety documentationand responding to inquiries on diving safety issues.
The report analyses the background to the incidents and over many years the BSAC and other UK based training agencies have constantly revised and updated their training programmes and safety guidance to take acount of both developing technology and to address training issues highlight by incident analysis.
There are few if any sports that present the challenge and potential risks to human life as that of scuba diving and snorkelling. To be able to do this safely we rely on specialised equipment and even more importantly specialised training in the use of that equipment.
