SCR Build up Dives Advice

Introduction
This is a suggested programme of build up dives aimed at the newly qualified semi- closed circuit rebreather diver to enable him/her to gain experience in a safe and progressive way. Please look upon this programme as advice rather than tablets of stone. Some divers will feel more confident and will not feel the need to follow the whole programme. Others may wish to follow it in its entirety. It is designed to be used as a guide and divers are invited to utilise those elements they feel apply specifically to their needs.

It is specifically aimed at the new SCR diver, especially for on those vital early dives after completing the unit specific course. BSAC strongly recommends in the situation when there is no experienced SCR diver in the branch to dive with that the new rebreather diver contact the Regional Technical Co-ordinator for support.

The BSAC hopes it will be particularly useful in the situation where a diver has completed a unit specific course and a period of time has elapsed between that course and beginning to dive the unit.

This programme can also be used as a guide by a Regional Technical Co-ordinator or an experienced rebreather diver who may be leading new rebreather divers on their early dives.

Furthermore, BSAC suggests the programme can also be useful as a skill refresher to an experienced rebreather diver, especially after a long lay off such as a winter break.

Finally, the BSAC invites the SCR diver to share this information with his/her branch DO/TO to help integration in the branch.

Note: This build up dives programme is tailored for the Dräger Atlantis/Dolphin and the Dräger Ray that includes the 40m option. It can also be used as a reference for the standard Dräger Ray while keeping the maximum depth to 20m or the Azimuth. Select link to download a copy of SCR build-up programme (pdf).
