WELFARE OF VULNERABLE PEOPLE in Snorkelling and Scuba Diving
BSAC Welfare OfficerMy role as the Operations Manager incorporates the role of BSAC Welfare Officer.
The BSAC takes its responsibility for all our members and their welfare very seriously and consequently we take great pride in remaining at the leading edge of the UK's steady movement to formalising the role of Welfare of Vulnerable people and work i in conjunction with leading organisations such as The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
BSAC Policy is to encourage all members to take a responsible attitude to safeguarding the welfare of all vulnerable people. In particular where voung people are concerned our policy is that poeple who have significant involvement with young people and vulnerable adults should voluntarily request a CRB check to confirm there is no unlying reason to prevent such contact. In England and Wales there will be legislation enacted in 2007? to require such registration but in Scotland such legislation is already in place and requires that all such people complete the checks required.
The BSAC are abole to facilitate this process and are fully registered to carry out these checks which are simple and treated in the strictest confidence.
The details of the process can be read about here
