Awards for All have just granted funding of £10K to the North West Kent branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club based at the NW Kent College in Dering Way, Gravesend where the club offers weekly pool training.

 

Established in 1972, the NW Kent BSAC currently boasts 40 members and, to cope with demand for this increasingly popular sport, applied to Awards for All for health and safety equipment, training equipment and volunteer training.

 

New membership includes the use of club equipment, and trainers give their time on a voluntary basis. The grant will help to pay towards extra equipment needed, internationally recognised BSAC qualifications for trainers including instructor courses, first aid and oxygen administration, and the health and safety equipment to equip divers and boat handlers with location devices at sea.

 

The club is planning to re-launch their RIB ‘Scamp’ with its new engine and VHF radio from Newhaven over the Easter holiday.
