New Sites
A great way to prepare for a new exciting year ahead is to plan to visit new locations and find new forms of life or visit new wrecks. A useful starting point is to visit the Expeditions and Dive Planning sections of the Website for guidance on how to plan and what to plan for. The Travel Club Website also has a wealth of ideas for new and exciting locations for overseas travel.

New look at ‘old’ sites
Even visiting your favourite and well know site can present a new challenge if approached in a different way. Introducing others to the wonders of the site as an Instructor can be rewarding in it’s own right. Learning to view and record the site through that new underwater camera you got for Christmas can provide a stunning new perspective and help you share your experiences even more. Getting involved in more formal activities such as the ‘MCS SeaSearch’ and ‘NAS Wreckmap’ projects can add an even greater dimension.

New You
The newfound enthusiasm that the above activities may generate will be best enjoyed by being ‘dive fit’ and your skills practiced and up to speed. The New look at ‘old’ sites is a great way to prepare for that new adventure abroad. We all promise to get fit after the excesses of the Christmas holiday and the best way to do this for diving is to go diving. The Advice contained with the ‘Safety First’ programme is as applicable to all divers.

New Kit
If Father Christmas has been good to you and provided lots of new and exciting kit to play with here are some simple tips to guide you. Practice with the kit in a controlled environment before having to use them for real. Think carefully about where to stow the kit so that you can access it when needed but don’t end up looking like a Christmas Tree. If necessary get appropriate training in it’s use.

New Skills
Gaining new skills can only enhance your diving safety and enjoyment. There are a wide range of skills and courses to choose from to enhance your diving experience from the New Nitrox Workshop to Rebreather and Trimix training, Seamanship skills through to Instructor Training.
