Another successful Boxing Day Raft Race
Boxing Day 26th December 2007 saw the sucessful running of the 46th Annual Raft Race by the Derbyshire Association of Sub Aqua Clubs. A total of £6352.54 was raised for the charities R.N.L.I, St Johns Ambulance' Hyperbaric unit and Derbyshire Air Ambulance. This makes a total of £17.843.04 raised in the last three years.

It certainly brings you round hitting the cold water of the river Derwent on a cold December morning , The committee were on duty early setting up the site in ready for the arriving rafts ,by nine o clock the site was heaving with activity rafters with tubes and netting ,barrels timber ,some had built rafts with themes. Well done to you all, the event was judged by Matlock Town Mayor.Ten o clock time for the off the first rafts were sent down the river Derwent on the four mile course through
Matlock, down to Matlock Bath, Past the famous Arkwright Mill, onto the finish at Cromford Mill. By this time the rafters have encounter crowds encouraging them on, negotiated a weir and been pelted with flour bombs all in good fun! to raise money for Charity close to divers . R.N.L.I, St John Ambulance, Derbyshire Air Ambulance, Hyperbaric unit.
Cup and trophies are presented after the Mayors speech.

As you can see we had a good day even the Mayor of Matlock enjoyed it !!!!
