1st place A fantastic black and white shot of a Southern stingray taken in the Caymen Islands. This shot has great light and superb composition. All the judges voted for this image Newcomer of The Year is Elenora Manca. Elenora wins a week for two aboard Tony Backhurst Scuba Travel “Get Wrecked” holiday for two aboard Typhoon luxury live aboard in the Red Sea value £1790. |

The standard is much higher in this category. Most of these images have been taken on digital SLR cameras.

1st Place In first place the winner this year in the BSAC travel Club Open section. with a fantastic shot of a smiling White whale. Taken in the white Sea. This shot has action, colour and great light. He’s captured the peak of the action. as the whale opened its mouth, teeth exposed . This is an extraordinary shot that grabs you by the eyeballs. Andray had 7 shots in the finals so it was no accident that one of his shots was the winner. This is an international competition and is open to photographers around the world. Andray was born in Russia and lives in Ukraine. he says that as a result of his underwater photography no whales have suffered. Andray was not at DOC on the day to collect his award as he is lives in Ukraine- in his absence. He was awarded BSAC underwater photographer of the year together with a trip for two to Seychelles valued at £3000 |

2nd place With an image of a manta ray and diver. The photographer has caught the moment with the mantas mouth is wide open coming straight at the diver. Taken in Maldives By Steve Jones Adam green (Manager) from cameras underwater presented Steve with a £300 voucher. |

2007-8 BSAC Travel club Photographic competition
Tony Baskeyfield, organiser of the competition announced the forthcoming 2007-8 BSAC Travel club Photographic competition.
The competition will be undergoing a overhaul. So watch out to see what’s new in 2008.
As usual The competition as is free to enter. There’s a competition every month with two entry sections.
open for the experienced photographer and newcomers for beginners with compact digital cameras
The monthly winning three shots in each section are displayed on the Travel Club Website and go forward to the final play offs.
Prizes
A Tony Backhurst Live aboard trip in the red Sea.
Once again cameras underwater are sponsoring the competition with a voucher for £300.
Seychelles Tourist board will be giving a holiday too.
There will be more prizes up for grabs so watch out for the new competition details on the travel club website.
